Should only require LOS to initiate a lock. Once locked, they should stay locked so long as the target(s) stay within range, even if they go around a corner or down off of a ledge. The leash holder shouldn't need to maintain LOS to maintain the lock.
It is really aggravating trying to walk a Heavy and they keep running off ahead charging around corners because they want to be an Assault with ridiculous EHP who then die because I wasn't repping them anymore due to losing LOS.
I can understand why Swarms require you to maintain LOS, though I find it silly that the engineers who developed Reps Leashes would've made a built-in requirement of LOS.

Lol I know a heavy just as the one you spoke of who tries to just charge in and he expects his logi to follow, and they both end up dead because of his arrogance. Remember that you're the Logi support, you are the one who should be calling the shots from behind because you're the one repping him. Next time you're repping a heavy and he wants to go around a corner and charge in to a crowd of enemies, you need to be the one to make the decision of either going in with him or let him go by himself. You need to make the heavy realize that this rep tool is actually a "leash" and he can't go where you can't go. Oh, trust me, I prefer working with Heavies where I have already established a precident. Generally speaking though, it is annoying as **** when they cut a pole or go out of LOS for even a fraction of a second.
@Arx What do we know about the beam? Nothing really, for all we know it could be formed from a magnetically stabilized tube of force which allows nanites to have what amounts to a direct highway to their target.

John Demonsbane wrote:Actually going around corners would be a bit OP, but I absolutely agree that the beam gets broken way too easily. If re-establishing a lock was near-instantaneous that would be fine, but when a small object breaks the beam it takes forever to re-establish. So annoying, What I love is when they slide around a corner for just a fraction of a second and die just before I do. While I understand that there would be people who would abuse this, I still like the idea of maintaining a lock on your reps target unless they get out of range.

Still the problem of other troops cutting in between you and your heavy is their because the leash will auto lock onto the player who runs through the beam rendering the heavy dead while under fire. I like using a dual channel since I can either walk two heavies or I can walk my one and be wandering triage for any blues we come across.
